Paruthiveeran a challenging role neatly handled by Karthik, a stunning debut in the recent times. Priyamani's smile and performance is pleasing throughout the movie. Ameer has depicted nothing but his hardwork. Every frame has been shot with utmost care, specially the "thiruvizha" at the very beginning - beautifully crafted. The screenplay is the backbone of the movie. The switching between the monochrome flashback and the present happenings is done so well and answers all the "Wh" questions in the audience mind. There is very less background music in the climax. More background music in the climax would have brought more emotions from the audience but the clarity of the tragedy would have been blurred. Yuvan scores well. Not to mention the performances by Saravanan and Ganja Karuppu(famously known as Vazhavandhan), job well done though Karuppu speaks less. The drawbacks I felt were - some English words were pronounced well and used liberally by everyone, the language that Muthazhagu speaks, it sometimes didn't have the Madurai accent and the very long dance performance by the troop after Veeran and Sevaazhai came out of jail (I felt it should have been short) otherwise the movie is tiptop.
and well, its a heavy weight !!
